Bruce, Lemmy and the Stooges

Bruce Duff is a musician, record producer, guitarist for Angus Khan, and does artist management and regional venue marketing for Knitting Factory Entertainment.

Lemmy the cat was rescued from the garage of an apartment building. He suffered a broken paw, broken tail, malnourishment and loss of fur from being attacked by rats. I'm fairly certain Mötorhead's Lemmy had suffered the same fate as a lad in Wales.

Now Lemmy is a big, fat, spoiled cat who likes to curl up with Bruce and listen to stories about Iggy and the Stooges.

The Lemmy-ness in the After photo is uncanny, don't you think?

Chris & Mr. Grits - Reunited and it feels so good!

This is a guy named Chris, holding Mr. Grits, now of Brooklyn, New York. This picture was taken just days after Chris finally moved to the United States from England, after 18 months of immigration hell, to be with his lovely wife Jessica. Chris and Mr. Grits have known each other since Grits was about 1/17th the size he is now, and they bonded during Chris's frequent visits to the US. But it wasn't until Chris officially moved in, and became his daytime daddy, that they became best friends. Grits lets Chris do all sorts of things that he would deem inappropriate and ridiculous if Jessica ever dared attempt them... holding him upside down by his rather chunky haunches, using his sturdy body as a pillow for hours on end, carrying him around the apartment in a shopping bag, etc. In the words of Jessica, "you never will know how much you love a man until you see him holding a cat." Well said!

Aaron & Lola

Aaron is an assistant at production company that produces hit tv shows and big budget movies. In his spare time he plays bass in the band Walking Sleep. And when they aren't rehearsing, recording or on tour, his favorite way to spend time is watching old movies while sitting between his fiancée Megan and their kitty.

Lola
was adopted on New Years Eve 2 years ago, after Aaron asked what Megan what she wanted for X-Mas and she replied "either a kitten... or a diamond..." (the diamond came 2 years later!). Originally they wanted a kitten but when they visited shelters and realized how many adult cats don't have homes and were in danger of being euthanized, they opted to take home 3 year old Lola. She is always on her best behavior around Aaron, respecting the fact that he won't let her get away with everything just because she's a cutie. They sometimes fight over space on the couch but love each other dearly. Lola likes to cuddle in Aaron's dirty laundry and waits by the door for him to come home when his band practice runs late.

Joe and the Cuddle Cats

Joe is a producer/engineer/mixer by day and at night he dons the drum sticks for LA's rock n' roll 5-piece Le Switch. They're awesome, and so is he. His percussive skills are so good, in fact, that at one point he was simultaneously in 3 different well-known LA bands! His cat-petting skills are pretty ace too, as you can see here. Closest to the camera is Luna, and on the other side is her mom, appropriately named Mama-Cat. In Joe's own words, these cats love to cuddle, and he likes to let them.

Geoff and Gray Cat

Geoff is an LA-based Educational Curriculum Developer by day and brilliant musician by night. He is also a friend of felines. Geoff was having some band promotional photos taken by his friend, photographer Charles Mallison. Although Geoff can rock an audience on stage, he was feeling a little camera-shy. The first part of the shoot, in his house, was bland and uninspired as a result. Then the guys stepped outside to get some more natural light, and along trotted Grey Cat. Geoff picked him up and suddenly things became less awkward. Charles started clicking away and said that he'd never seen Geoff "so happy!"

Louis and Apple - a love rivalry continues.

This is Apple. She came into Louis and Queta's life around a year ago. Queta had wanted to get a cat as soon as she and Louis found a place they liked. Louis was merely going along with the whole thing. Within days, however, Apple had totally taken to Louis, and sadly Queta was left holding the camera. Hundreds of photos later, two things are clear: Apple is kinda cutely out of her mind, and she is a bit territorial with Louis. Don't believe me? Apple routinely attacks Queta's crafts. She knocks down just about anything Queta hangs on the wall. And recently, she even grabbed a photo of Louis and Queta off of the fridge and proceeded to destroy it! Wow, Queta, hang in there, sister.

Clearly saying "keep your paws off" right here.

Moments before she took the glasses off the wall.

To paraphrase "The Dark Knight": Apple isn't the cat they need, but she's the cat they deserve.

Since you can't get enough of Apple, check out Queta's lovely Flickr stream at www.flickr.com/photos/geetargeek/sets/.

About Louis: this man is the most gainfully unemployed individual you'd ever meet. Just look at what he spends his lazy days doing!

He also occasionally writes for The Yeti Blog (www.theyetionline.com/category/views/the-yeti-blog/), and is director of the puppet-Tommy Wiseau webseries "The Room Responds" (www.youtube.com/user/commentsinyourpocket).
